Have a Question? Let Us Answer It!

Below Are Answers to Our Most Commonly Asked Questions

Does my insurance cover that?

Dental insurance is diverse. Some policies cover only a small percentage of fees, while others cover 50%, or more. In most cases, the more you or your employer pays for premiums, the better the coverage. Generally, dental insurance covers some restorative and preventive procedures. Cosmetic dentistry is not usually covered. We accept CareCredit to make cosmetic dentistry affordable for all of our patients. If you have questions, give us a call. We'll be happy to tell you what your insurance will cover.

What payment options do you accept?

For your convenience in paying for your dental care, we accept cash, checks, and all major credit cards. Third party financing, often at low or no interest for qualified applicants, is available through CareCredit. Please see their website for details.

I avoid dental visits because of anxiety… is this normal? Can you help?

Many people fear dental visits. We understand dental anxiety and offer a solution to help you overcome your stress. Dr. Solomon is a DOCS-certified dentist who uses oral sedation to help you gain full peace of mind and body so that you can receive the dental work you need – and deserve.

What's a CEREC one-visit restoration?

With innovative CEREC technology, we can create custom crowns, inlays, and onlays while you wait. CEREC uses a 3D image of your tooth to mill an attractive, durable dental restoration specifically for your unique smile. This means that in just one visit, you can get a custom-made, all-white, reliable restoration. Nothing temporary. No follow-up visit. It's that simple.

How do I know when it's time to come in for a checkup?

We recommend that patients with good oral health schedule a checkup and hygiene visit twice each year. If you need more frequent visits, we'll let you know. Checkups are important because, even if you don't notice any pain or problems with your teeth, we may find signs of potential issues. For instance, demineralization is a precursor to decay, oral cancer often goes undetected until the later stages, and gum disease can be very stealthy. At your hygiene appointment, we'll clean plaque, tartar, and hardened food particles from your teeth. We'll also make sure your gums are healthy and strong.

My gums bleed after I brush. Is this something to be concerned about?

Bleeding is usually a sign of a problem. When gums bleed, the cause usually stems from brushing too hard or early-stage gum disease called gingivitis. We can consult with you on the proper toothbrush and pressure for safe, effective daily oral care. If your gums show signs of periodontal disease, we may recommend a deep hygiene treatment to alleviate your symptoms. Gum disease is the leading cause of tooth loss for American adults and has been linked to many overall health conditions, including stroke, heart attack, and respiratory problems. Untreated, gum disease can significantly damage your health, so call for an assessment now! We'll help you keep your teeth and gums strong and healthy.

How can I make my smile brighter?

We offer in-office Zoom! Whitening, as well as custom-made take-home trays with professional bleaching gel. Both methods yield excellent results – up to eight shades or better! We'll help you decide which one is right for you.

Do you accept referrals?

Yes, and thank you for your confidence. We appreciate your referrals and promise to extend the same comprehensive, caring service to your friends, family members, and coworkers that we give you every time you visit. We even offer incentives through our Referral Rewards program!

When do you recommend children to have a first dental visit?

We want to see your child when they have teeth! Most children respond well to a dental visit around age two or three, though the ADA recommends children have a first visit at one year of age. Bring your child with you to your appointment so that he or she can become acclimated to our office. If you notice any development problems with your child's mouth or teeth, call us to schedule a visit immediately. Otherwise, we'd like to begin teaching your children how to care for their teeth and gums when they reach two or three years of age. By age four or five, they can begin hygiene treatments and regular checkups.

How can improve my smile?

That sounds like an easy question to answer, but it isn't! Your smile is unique, and we won't compromise your individuality with smile enhancements. Come in for a complimentary smile evaluation, and we'll discuss your goals, preferences, and options for care. Generally speaking, we may suggest porcelain veneers, teeth whitening, all-white restorations and/or replacement teeth. Invisalign clear braces may also be involved. After your evaluation, we'll present a treatment plan for your new smile.

What are my options to replace missing teeth?

We offer bridges, partials, full dentures, and dental implants. Learn more about these options on our Dental Services page, then call for a consultation. With X-rays, intraoral photos, and a thorough assessment of your dentition, we can help you decide which replacement option is best for you.

Why do you recommend a bone graft after extraction?

Our dentists recommend placing a bone graft following extraction to ensure sufficient bone structure is available for restorative therapies, such as dental implants and dentures. With a bone graft in place, you’ll heal faster and experience little or no discomfort.
